Gary and Justin are longtime friends who realized their skill sets were built to complement each other — hands-on design and construction experience paired with knowledge of business, finance, and experience owning and operating multiple successful construction businesses, with nearly 40 years combined construction experience. That combination is what lets Deck Giant run as an efficient, well-organized company that never loses sight of what the customer actually needs.
Gary Tussey
A Colorado native with 20+ years of hands-on construction and carpentry experience, Gary also spent a decade in 3D medical, military, transportation, and aerospace animation — including classified defense contract work — after graduating from the Art Institute of Colorado in 1999. He's an Emmy Award-winning animator and director, fluent in AutoCAD, 3ds Max, and Maya.
That combination of construction know-how and 3D visualization skill means Gary can turn an idea into a detailed drawing or realistic rendering before a single post goes in the ground — helping clients see the space and solve tricky design details early. As Owner and Project Manager, Gary oversees projects from design through completion, bringing the same attention to detail and problem-solving skills that have defined his career. He believes every client is a partner and works to ensure each project balances the homeowner's vision, budget, and needs while delivering exceptional craftsmanship.
Justin Fitzpatrick
Justin brings 15+ years as a business owner and construction/real estate professional. He previously owned and ran a construction company in another state specializing in high-end patio structures before selling it, and served as head project manager for a real estate firm overseeing multi-million-dollar renovation budgets on multifamily and commercial properties.
He holds an Associate of Applied Science in Building Construction Technology and Construction Management from Austin Community College. At Deck Giant, Justin runs sales and business operations, working with clients from the first conversation through project planning. Outside of work he spends time with his wife and daughter, custom woodworking, adventure motorcycling, fly fishing, camping, rock climbing, and exploring the outdoors with his dog.
